DISC Comment:
This article highlights the danger of the digital dark age, where digital data gets lost forever due to a combination of obsolete technology and degraded storage medium. It advocates early classification of information worth persevering and then an active curation process. DISC’s professional archival systems are unique in providing data longevity which can drastically reduce the cost and risk associated with long term data retention. Whilst not solving the problem it will give companies sufficient time to manage it.
