Euroson Announces Software Support for DISC ArXtor Series
Blu-Ray Optical Storage for PoINT Jukebox Manager and PoINT Storage Manager
Brentwood, NY – January 29, 2013 - Euroson America, Inc., an established North American Distribution Partner for PoINT Software & Systems GmbH announces support for DISC Archiving Systems (DISC) ArXtor Series Blu-ray Optical Storage by PoINT Jukebox Manager and PoINT Storage Manager.
The high connectivity of the new DISC Libraries facilitates easy integration into an existing infrastructure. Users interested in a compliant cost-effective and energy-saving long-term archiving solution, will benefit from an automated administration of their optical media library by this integration of products.
With PoINT Jukebox Manager integration of optical libraries into an existing IT- infrastructure is quite simple. An intuitive user interface manages a standardized file system creates network shares which transparently provide read write access to the ArXtor optical library. The optical storage library can be used by applications and users in the same way as hard disk.
With PoINT Storage Manager, the DISC ArXtor library is seamlessly integrated into the Archive Tier within a Multi-Tiered Storage environment. Using the PoINT TAFS file system, data from existing network locations can be automatically migrated to the Blu-Ray Archive, and files can additionally be replaced with links to the Archive copy, preserving the original data path for seamless integration with existing applications. A broad range of “Policy” definitions allow for complete customization of the migration and Archiving process.
The current release of PoINT Jukebox Manager and PoINT Storage Manager support the entire new DISC ArXtor Series of iSCSI-based Blu-ray libraries. They are available as two product lines ArXtor Lite and ArXtor Appliance (incl. Virtual Server) providing the ideal technology for tiered archive and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Solutions for fulfilling governmental regulations and for implementing long-term archiving.
Furthermore the DISC ArXtor Libraries score with their very low energy consumption in comparison with other storage products. The tested integration of PoINT Software and DISC ArXtor Libraries assures users a fast and smooth installation of their libraries. PoINT Jukebox Manager offers various enhancements in addition to the new DISC library support like Disc Rescan Process as a background job and Multiple Selection for the slot rescan. Furthermore users of the new PoINT Jukebox Manager version benefit from a performance improvement for the directory cache recovery. For sequentially written media no rescan of already closed media is necessary. Thus the recovery time of the jukebox file system is reduced significantly.
